3Commas vs Bitsgap (2026) — An Honest Comparison
3Commas and Bitsgap are the two longest-running names in crypto trading automation — both launched in 2017, both connect to exchanges via API keys, both charge a monthly subscription. Most comparisons of them are written by one of the two companies. This one is written by a competitor (we build Tradiflux), which gives us a different bias — but also no reason to flatter either side. Where one of them is simply better, we say so.
TL;DR: Pick 3Commas if your strategy runs on TradingView webhooks or you want the deepest DCA bot configuration on the market. Pick Bitsgap if you want bot variety (COMBO, LOOP, QFL), longer backtesting, a free full demo, and a clean security record — and you're willing to pay more for it. If you trade on Bybit or Hyperliquid, neither is a great fit in 2026 — that's the gap we built Tradiflux into.

Pricing: 3Commas is cheaper to start, Bitsgap is cheaper to scale bots
3Commas restructured its plans in October 2025 — the move that pushed a wave of long-time users to look at alternatives. The new ladder: Free ($0, portfolio tracking only — no trading, no demo), Starter ($20/mo — one exchange account, spot only), Pro ($50/mo — futures, 3 accounts), Expert ($140/mo). Annual billing discounts these by roughly 25%. The forced migration off cheaper legacy plans remains the loudest complaint in recent reviews.
Bitsgap runs Free / Basic $29 / Advanced $69 / Pro $149 per month ($23/$55/$119 annually). Futures bots start at Advanced; grid take-profit and the full AI mode are Pro-only. But the bot allowances are generous: Pro allows 50 GRID + 250 DCA + 50 COMBO bots, where 3Commas caps Pro at 20 DCA / 10 Grid.
Bottom line: a spot trader with one exchange pays less on 3Commas ($20 vs $29). A futures bot trader pays $50 on 3Commas vs $69 on Bitsgap. Someone running large bot farms gets more headroom per dollar on Bitsgap Pro.
Bots: depth vs variety
3Commas' DCA bot is the deepest in the industry — iterated since 2017, single- and multi-pair (100+ pairs monitored), 11 indicator-based deal-start conditions, presets, and a config marketplace. The Signal Bot executes TradingView webhook alerts or custom JSON — the single biggest reason traders stay on 3Commas, since Bitsgap has no webhook support at all.
Bitsgap counters with variety: GRID with trailing up/down, spot DCA, DCA Futures (up to 10x), the COMBO bot (DCA entries + GRID exits on futures — a genuinely distinctive hybrid), BTD for downtrends, LOOP for profit compounding, and QFL for panic-drop buying. Note one stale claim to ignore: Bitsgap's arbitrage tool was discontinued — older reviews still advertising it are out of date.
Backtesting and demo
Bitsgap wins this section. Its backtesting covers 30/180/365 days of history depending on plan, and its demo mode is free and complete — real order-book simulation, every bot type including futures. On 3Commas, backtesting quotas are plan-gated and paper trading requires a paid plan or trial — the free tier can't even demo.
Exchanges and regions
3Commas documents 13 spot and 7 futures venues, including a US-compliant set (Coinbase Advanced, Kraken, Gemini, Binance US, Bitstamp). EU/EEA users are heavily restricted under MiCA (a handful of spot-only connections). Bitsgap lists 17 exchanges including Binance, OKX, Coinbase, Kraken, KuCoin, and the Evedex/Aster DEXes.
Two shared blind spots worth knowing: neither platform supports Hyperliquid, and Bybit is absent from Bitsgap's current exchange list (and only 3Commas serves it properly between the two).
Security: the clearest difference
This is where the records genuinely diverge. 3Commas suffered a major API key leak disclosed in December 2022 (~100,000 keys published; ~$22M in user losses alleged in a class action; the company initially blamed phishing before confirming the breach) and a second, smaller account-access incident in October 2023. Remediation since then is real and documented — isolated key storage, IP whitelisting, API disconnection on password resets — but the history happened.
Bitsgap has no publicly documented breach in ~8 years of operation. Its model is the same non-custodial API approach (withdrawal permissions auto-rejected, RSA-2048 key encryption). One caveat affecting its users: recurring impersonation scams (spoofed sites, cold callers posing as Bitsgap) — not a platform breach, but stay on the official domain.
Complaints you'll find in reviews
- 3Commas: the October 2025 repricing (the dominant recent complaint), reliability hiccups during volatility spikes, a free tier that no longer does anything, and lingering distrust from 2022.
- Bitsgap: price (most-cited), marketing that overpromises bot returns (one major reviewer called it "negligent"), bots underperforming in trending markets, and auto-renewal billing disputes.
So which one?
- Strategy lives in TradingView / Pine Script → 3Commas, no contest.
- Want maximum DCA configurability → 3Commas.
- Want bot variety and longer backtests → Bitsgap.
- Want to demo everything before paying → Bitsgap.
- Security history matters most to you → Bitsgap.
- US-based → 3Commas has the stronger compliant exchange set.
The third option
If your trading lives on Bybit or Hyperliquid, both platforms above leave you stranded — one dropped Bybit, neither touches Hyperliquid. Tradiflux covers exactly those two venues (spot + perpetuals) with grid/DCA bots, Smart Orders, and an AI Copilot that builds bots from a chat message — at $19/month flat, with a free demo exchange that needs no API keys. Smaller exchange list, no backtesting — but if you're on these venues, it does more than either veteran for half the price. See the full breakdowns: Tradiflux vs 3Commas and Tradiflux vs Bitsgap.
